New Features of Autodesk 3ds Studio Max 2008

Review Rendering

Produce stunning photo-real imagery, faster. With the release of 3ds Max 2008, Autodesk unveils Review. This powerful new toolset supports iterative rendering workflows by delivering interactive previewing of shadows, the 3ds Max sun/sky environment, and mental ray® Architectural and Design material settings. Based on the latest game engine technology, Review gives you the instant visual feedback you need to iterate rapidly.

Rendering Elements and Textures

Now 3ds Max can output multiple components from any software renderer simultaneously for reassembly in a compositor.
Output elements include diffuse color, lighting, alpha, reflection, refraction, and shadow. Z-depth and motion vector data can be stored separately for use in post processes. Each object’s material and lighting can be baked into new texture maps.
Supports output per element to allow for easy generation of specific characteristics, such as diffuse color, height, normal, lighting, and mental ray ambient occlusion.
