VRay 1.5 Now Supported:

Rendercore is Pleased to Announce We Now Support Vray 1.5!

Rendercore has now upgraded our rendering software to include the latest version of Vray, Vray 1.5 for 3D Studio Max. Vray 1.5 showed a number of their latest developments and innovative new features at Siggraph in August. This highly requested software, which will now be our standard VRay version, supports motion blur for advanced particle systems, image based lighting, a physically based camera system and more. Rendercore, a leader in remote rendering solutions, is pleased to be able to include this new software in our list of available renderers.

All 3D Studio Max 8.0 Vray renders run through Rendercore will automatically be submitted with VRay 1.5. We ask that all of our clients consider upgrading to the latest version. If you need to render a file with an older version of Vray please contact tech support during normal office hours to arrange for this render.

VRay 1.5 Features and Developments

VRay 1.5 features from Vray.info Technology Preview:

  • Motion blur for Particle Flow systems
    • VRay 1.5 now support an advanced motion blur feature which takes into account particle translation and spin. This upgrade is meant for complex non-linear particle movements.

  • Image-based lighting (IBL)
    • The Vray dome light now supports the use of arbitrary texture maps to determine the amount of light coming from the dome.

  • Improved rQMC sampling
    • This feature will reduce noise when combining multiple "blurry" effects.
  • Improved photon mapping
    • The photon mapping feature has been improved upon by having a reduced darkening effect around corners
  • Sun and sky system
    • This is a combination of the VRay Sky and VRay Sun features to create realistic lighting for daytime scenes.
  • Dirt shader and ambient occlusion
    • VRay dirt is a new procedural texture that can be used to create a weathered or "dirty" appearance on objects or as a quick replacement for global illumination.
  • Fast SSS approximation
    • This texture map was created for faster and more efficient rendering for translucent objects such as skin. This texture is flicker free as it does not use interpolation.
  • Physically based camera
    • This brand new camera feature simulates a real world camera and its many features such as the focal length and fstop. This will create accurate image distortions allowing for a more realistic camera feel.
